When you think about commercial cleaning, post-construction or remodel cleaning might not come to mind. But many businesses go through periods of construction and remodeling, and a professional cleaning crew is just the right team to come in after a dusty, messy job to make your business sparkle again. Let’s talk about how to clean your business after construction or remodeling.

How to Clean your Business After Construction or Remodeling

It will be incredibly messy and dirty after a large project like construction of a new space, or remodeling your existing business. Construction cleaning happens in two main phases, and both phases involve a lot of sweeping, wiping, and vacuuming. There will be a film of dust and grime on just about everything in your work environment. Everything will need to be tackled from top to bottom.

To begin, all the flat surfaces of your workplace will be wiped down with a soapy water solution. From countertops, restroom vanities, and fixtures, to window ledges and lighting components…any and all areas where dust could gather will need cleaning. Non-flat or vertical surfaces will also be dusty and dirty, and will need to be wiped clean or possibly cleaned with a duster if the area is delicate, detailed, or can’t be reached with a cleaning cloth or by a team member. The goal is to remove as much of the dirty particles as possible.

Next, the hard surface floors in your work environment will need to be cleaned well. Larger debris and sediment will have settled on these surfaces. Taking care to sweep and clear these areas as gently as necessary should be remembered. Underneath the dust might be a hardwood or other delicate flooring surface that needs to be well-cleaned but also treated in a careful fashion. A broom or dry mop can aid in quickly clearing away debris and dirt. After this process, a damp or wet mop can be used to finish the dusting and cleaning job, and bring your floors back to life!

Cleaning the workplace carpet is the final large cleaning activity. Every inch of the carpet should be vacuumed, along with the edges, in all your work areas. If you have some office furniture or equipment moved in already, moving this is imperative to get at all the debris that appeared during the construction or remodel to your workplace.

Polishing your Workplace

After the large job of removing all the construction debris and dust is completed, polishing and sanitizing your workplace is a nice way to make your new workplace inviting and attractive to your business team, guests, and clients. Proper cleaning of the bathrooms, break rooms, lobby areas, furniture, and windows will bring your workplace back to life after construction and set the stage for business and maybe even a ribbon cutting or open house!
