Terminal Cleaning
Healthcare and medical facilities as well as biopharmaceutical and medical laboratories utilize Clean Method’s terminal cleaning services to obtain the most thorough disinfection and sanitization possible to eliminate pathogens and prevent the transmission of disease.
All of our terminal cleaning service technicians receive customized training on terminal cleaning and become experts in the field. Using cleaning products specifically designed for the task, they perform a deep, 360° clean on all surfaces from ceiling to floor.
Once our technicians have finished disinfecting and sanitizing the facility, we conduct a full walk-through to validate the job. If we see any areas or spots that were missed, we’ll re-clean them until our customer and we are both completely satisfied.

Cleanroom Cleaning
To maintain a controlled environment, it takes meticulous cleaning and disinfection by an expert team of cleaning professionals. Our highly trained technicians are equipped with specialized cleaning protocols and equipment that provide continuous cleanroom cleaning services.
We understand that your cleanroom has unique requirements based on your industry and specific ISO ratings. We carefully design our cleaning protocols to meet and exceed these standards, ensuring a controlled environment that minimizes the risk of contamination. Our experienced technicians are well-versed in the intricacies of various ISO classifications and can provide tailored cleaning solutions to protect your critical processes and products.
How Are Cleanrooms Classified?
Cleanrooms are classified based on their level of airborne particulate contamination. The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) has established two primary sets of standards for cleanrooms: ISO 14698 for biocontamination control and ISO 14644 for airborne particulate control.
ISO 14644 is a comprehensive standard that outlines procedures for classifying, monitoring, testing, and operating cleanrooms. It defines the maximum allowable number of particles of a specific size within a given volume of air.
Under this standard, cleanroom air cleanliness is classified into nine classes: ISO 1, ISO 2, ISO 3, ISO 4, ISO 5, ISO 6, ISO 7, ISO 8, and ISO 9. On this scale, ISO 1 is deemed the highest level of clean. Industry requirements and the specific purpose of the cleanroom determine the necessary ISO classification.

Key Considerations for Environmental Cleaning Services
What type of air filtration is required for cleanrooms?
Cleanrooms use HEPA (High-Efficiency Particulate Air) filters, which remove 99.97% of particles ≥0.3 µm, or ULPA (Ultra-Low Penetration Air) filters, which remove 99.999% of particles ≥0.12 µm.
How often do ISO cleanrooms need to be tested or certified?
Cleanrooms should be tested at least once a year for compliance. However, high-risk environments (like pharmaceutical or biotech cleanrooms) may require more frequent testing (quarterly or biannually).
How is cleanroom classification tested?
Cleanrooms must undergo particle count testing, using devices like laser particle counters to ensure compliance with their ISO classification.
Classified vs. Unclassified Cleanrooms: Our Expert Advice
Whereas classified cleanrooms are controlled environment meeting specific cleanliness levels based on standards, unclassified cleanrooms do not adhere to formal cleanliness classifications. However, unclassified cleanrooms—also known as controlled non-classified (CNC) areas—still maintain some control over environmental factors like temperature, humidity and airborne contaminants.
Here are some key differences between the two:
Cleaning frequency: We recommend a strict cleaning schedule—daily or weekly—for classified cleanrooms. Unclassified cleanrooms can be kept clean on a more flexible basis.
Cleaning agents: For classified cleanrooms, use only ISO-approved, non-foaming disinfectants and sterile wipes, which should not be shared with non-clean areas. General-purpose agents or standard industrial cleaners can be used in unclassified cleanrooms.
Cleaning equipment: Use only HEPA-filtered vacuums for classified cleanrooms, along with specialized mops. Unclassified cleanrooms can be cleaned with basic tools.
